The Engineering Technology program at Wallace State Community College offers a Building Construction program, with options to earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in Construction Management or Short-Term Certificates in Construction Science designed around helping students enter the workforce.

The program options include an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Construction Management, as well as a Short-term certificate in Construction Science.

Construction Management is one of the fastest growing majors at colleges and universities, according to the Education Advisory Board. This is due in part to a skills gap in the construction industry, prompting a need for skilled construction professionals.

Students can use the credentials earned at Wallace State to be more competitive in the job market as employers are looking for employees with certified skills and training. 

Employment of construction occupations is projected to grow 10 percent through 2024, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The median annual wage for all construction occupations was $43,610 in May 2016, according to the BLS, with construction laborers making $32,230, flooring installers and tile and marble setters making $39,150, drywall and ceiling tile installers and tapers making $42,280, construction and building inspectors making $58,480, and $89,300 for construction managers.
